Teachings of Swami Vishwananda

Limitation is ignorance in man and knowledge is what removes ignorance. When I say knowledge, I mean the knowledge of the Divine, the inner knowledge, this knowledge that you have inside of you. When you have certain knowledge one day you will have to let go even of it, because you don’t Realise God either with ignorance or with knowledge. Knowledge will bring you only to a certain point of Realising the Divine, but to Realise God, to truly know the Divine, you have to cross over everything, go beyond all limitations.

We have to become part of Him. We have to realise this unity. Firstly, the unity starts with our mind uniting with our heart, then with our body. When the body, mind and soul are united together, you will experience the Divine without any limitation. Actually, this is the main aim of man: to realise his oneness with the Divine. When you realise it, you become Divine.

We like to understand things with our mind, but our mind has a limit. Does the mind understand the heart? It will never understand it. The mind will understand things only when there is a limit to them. If there is a wall where you can bang yourself against, the mind will understand. And then, of course, you will complain about it, because it hurts. Whereas, when you centre yourself in your heart and awaken this Divine Consciousness, Higher Consciousness inside, you will always flow.

On the spiritual path we are all learning. We are learning to attain God, but first of all we are learning to rise above our mind [where our crossroad decisions appear]. And if you really want to be spiritual, be positive. Train yourself to be positive.

Surrender does not mean to leave the world. You have to do your duty, your Dharma. Outside you can have a luxurious life, but inside you have to surrender to Him. Automatically, you can have outside everything but this will not make you happy. Like Mirabai, she was a princess, she had everything but she was not happy. You have to do your dharma outside in life. Look I play more human than anybody. This is my role, I have to do it. Otherwise I can’t be here. Like that you have to go to school, to your job. But bear in mind what is inside of you. Never forget about that.Through out life, tests will come and you have to challenge it. If you pass the tests you can move to surrendering. Surrender is not to say: OK I love God, I love God, I am surrendering. It is not so easy. You have to surrender completely to Him. If you have sincerely surrendered yourself, nothing can move you. Once you have surrender, you are rooted in yourself. More your surrender more difficult it becomes in the outside. Then it will come left and right but nothing can move you. The outside stay outside.

You are the temple of God. God dwells inside of you. You will realise this Love for yourself. You will know that He is here, sitting here all the time.

The real Beloved is God, because He is the only one who is always fresh. His love always renews itself. Whereas all the other loves, they start very fresh, like a beautiful flower, and they, also, fade, the same as the other flowers. You know that. How many times in your life have you fallen in love? You have really fallen in love? And then to rise, it is a very difficult achievement to be made.

“How lucky it is that God chose you to be on a spiritual path. But it doesn’t end only here, because when you are on the spiritual path, very often I’ve seen people very shy, very shy to say that they are on this path. They are shy to say that they love God. Well, if you are shy to say that you are on a spiritual path and you love God, where is the self-confidence in it? Where is the faith in it? Where is the faith in yourself? You should never be afraid of saying that you love God, because this is the only thing; He is the only One that you can love, really.”
